Jackson Maris summerar hösten
Spelande tränaren Jackson Maris skriver nedan om första halvan av säsongen. Trevlig läsning!
Looking back at the first half of the season there were many successes and positive
victories within our team. We have undoubtedly improved individually and as a
team, which has reflected in our record and in our play. That being said, there are
many things we as a team still need to improve on if we want to be successful come
We started the season very slowly with a record of 2-6 after our first 8 games. With
only two returning players from last years Habo squad (Stefan Stolic and Alexander
Berggren) our team chemistry was poor and so was our execution rate. Still getting
a feel for how to play together, we were not playing “clean” volleyball. We continued
to show glimpses of how good we could be, but were not consistent enough to close
out matches. It wasn’t until our 10 th match that we were able to put together a
complete game from start to finish, and defeat Falkenberg in 3 straight sets at home.
Since this game our execution has become more and more consistent, and we went
on a 5 game winning streak.
This consistency is due to a variety of factors, and different players have stepped up
when we needed them to. We have demanded a lot out of Johan Skoogh and our
Libero Filip Mokelainen. Against float servers we only use two players in serve
receive, and Skoogh and Mokelainen have handled it very well. Our two Bosnian
attackers (Adnan Herco and Stefan Stolic) have taken a big role in our attack. Both
have showed they can be top attackers in the Elitserien and are getting better every
game. We have relied heavily on Canadian middle blocker Ken Rooney both
offensively and defensively. Rooney has been our most efficient attacker and
blocker, but due to injury he has missed our last 2 matches. Alexander Berggren
who still had not completely recovered from a sprained ankle really stepped up
when we needed him. Also Robin Rakeberg, who is new to the Eliteserien, played
very good for us and was a large contributor in our latest victory over Orkelljunga.
Many times this season we have relied on different players to come through for us in
big moments, and they have. Such as Adnan Herco putting up 30 kills in 4 sets
against Orkelljunga, and in the same game Sebastian Angel bringing energy off the
bench, hitting 9 serves with zero errors. Also, Jacob Nordlund replacing an ill Johan
Skoogh and getting 8 important kills against Sodertelge while contributing zero
errors. Every team faces different adversity throughout the season and our guys
have handled it very well.
But to continue to be successful we need continue to improve, and our team has lots
of room to do that. The area we need the greatest improvement is limiting our
errors. We currently commit too many errors and if we are able to eliminate 20% of
these errors while keeping our aggression, then we have a good chance at being
successful and making something special happen this season.
Vi ses igen i Habo Sporthall lördag 6e januari 19.00, då vi tar emot Södertelge.
